"This ("Take Back The Land") is a beautiful recording. Angela's writing here moves from playful to soulful to acutely observant and introspective. Her voice is enchanting. The musicianship is extraordinary and the songs are delicately crafted. But to me what comes through the clearest in this collection of songs is her warm and wonderful compassionate heart"
-
Don White, singer-songwriter/comedian

Angela Masciale has been singing all her life. She was told by her mother, that one day when she was still in her mother’s uterus, her mother opened her mouth, and what came out was a baby singing. As a child/adolescent, she was on TV, in musicals, festivals, and even made a brief cameo in the movie, “Taking Off”, directed by Milos Forman. As a teenager, Angela sang in a folk-rock band that played in venues on Long Island, New York. She has written poetry since age eleven, and started writing the words and music to songs at age sixteen. As an adolescent, she took six months of formal voice training with Linda Zanti, a known opera star in New York City. She also took 6 years of piano lessons, and picked up the guitar on her own playing on and off during her teenage years and into her twenties. As an adult she has studied guitar with master guitarist, and singer-songwriter, Raymond Gonzalez for nine years.
Angela has always had an interest in healing, and views music as a healing meditation. After graduating high school, she decided to pursue a career as a psychiatric nurse clinical specialist, completing a master’s degree in psychiatric mental health nursing at Boston College. She continues to use music, writing, and art in her work with adults, adolescents and children. Angela continues the balancing act of working as a psychiatric nurse clinical specialist, and writing, recording and performing as a singer-song-writer/guitarist.
Since 2000, Angela has released three CDs of original songs, composing the lyrics and music, singing and playing acoustic guitar throughout in all three CD’s. She recently picked up the native American flute, Tibetan Singing Bowl, and has returned to playing some piano. Angela’s songs emanate from her voice, and her poetry which is often inspired by her work in mental health, as witness to traumas and victories, and by her extensive travels. Her voice is palliative, a sweetner to allow the hard knock and blunt truths of existence to be serenaded, and elucidated.
Angela’s first CD, “Time Will Tell”, was released in 2000. This is a collection of eleven original songs. Angela writes the lyrics, and music, plays acoustic guitar throughout and her step-son Adam Zampino plays back up piano, keyboard and guitar. This first CD was catalyzed by Adam coming to live with her after he graduated college. Inspired by Adam’s musical influence, she dusted off the guitar and started to write music again. The song, “The Sun Will Shine Again”, was written at age 16. Many of the songs on this CD relate to her love of nature, and its healing qualities. The title, “Time Will Tell”, was an artistic statement about reentering into the world of performance. There are songs on this CD that reflect her transition back into playing music, taking a leap of faith yet, incorporating her strong interest in mental-health and healing. This CD was recorded and engineered by her step-son Adam Zampino at StoneSound recording studio.
Angela’s second CD, “Ancient Voices”, a collection of 13 original songs was released in 2004. She wrote the lyrics and music to all the songs, except for the lyrics to the last song on the CD, “Requium For the Earth”, which was originally a poem written by her husband, Daniel Zampino. One stormy night, when there was no electricity, she lit a candle and started to sing music to the poem he had written. Then she picked up her guitar and created a musical arrangement to the haunting melody that was flowing through her at this time.“ Requium for the Earth”, is a political statement about preserving our environment, the earth, and a warning about unleashing the ultimate weapon of mass destruction. Included in this CD is the anti-war song, “Run Away Freedom Train”, and “Phantom Limb’, a tribute to the victims of the 9/11 attack on the twin towers in New York City. There are a number of songs dealing with victory over abuse. There is a special song written for her father in celebration of his 75th birthday, which includes whistling tracks by her father. The title track, “Ancient Voices”, was written about the experience of swimming with dolphins and communing in the web of life. Many fine musicians play with Angela on this CD, including Raymond Gonzalez, on acoustic guitar, Adam Zampino on keyboard and ‘djambe, Nathan Blaz on cello, and Benjamin Roldan on native American flute. Adam Zampino recorded and engineered this CD at StoneSound recording studio.
Angela Masciale released her third CD, “Take Back the Land”, in November of 2008. This is a collection of 13 original songs. She has written all words and music sings and plays guitar throughout this CD. “Take Back The Land” is a journey about moving from discord to harmony. The first song on the CD, “Casualties of War”, a song about struggling with PTSD, was recorded and engineered by Adam Zampino. The rest of the songs were recorded and engineered by Raymond Gonzalez, at Blue Fish Recording Studio. Raymond Gonzalez plays back up lead acoustic guitar, keyboard flute, and base. Pam Kuras plays fiddle on the song, “Hungry Horizon”, written for a fundraiser, that Angela performed in to raise money for the victims of the devastating Indonesian tsunami a few years ago. It is a reminder of the ultimate power of nature to take back the land. The title track of the CD, “Take back the Land”, was inspired by her nephew who as a child tried to save a tree. The last song on the CD, “Singing Bowl Chant”, was created as a healing reflection in response to a recent trip to Dharmshala, northern India, home of the Dalai Lama.
